We think your balance
is nobody else's business.
Z-Relay Labs is a small team of cryptographers and protocol engineers building the settlement layer we wanted to exist: one where moving real value does not mean publishing your position, and where proving you are solvent does not mean handing over your history.
The obvious gap.
Tokenized equities arrived on Robinhood Chain with the economics of a modern exchange and the privacy of a public spreadsheet. Anyone can watch a desk accumulate, see exactly where its stops sit, and front-run the exit. For retail that is uncomfortable. For an institution it is disqualifying.
The existing answers were both bad. Generic mixers offered privacy that gets a position frozen the moment it touches a regulated venue. Bridges offered settlement with no confidentiality at all. Nobody was building the thing in between: privacy strong enough to matter, paired with disclosure precise enough to satisfy an auditor.
Zcash already solved the hard half. Orchard gives real confidentiality under a proof system that needs no trusted setup, and the viewing-key hierarchy was designed from the start for exactly the disclosure problem institutions face. What was missing was a path between an EVM rollup and that pool that a developer could use in an afternoon — and a proof format cheap enough for a smart contract to check.
That path is Z-Relay. That is the whole company.
What we will not trade away.
Privacy is not a feature
It is a property of a consensus system or it is a promise someone can break. We settle into Zcash rather than reimplementing privacy in a contract we control, because a contract we control is a contract we can be compelled to change.
Disclosure belongs to the holder
The choice of what to reveal, to whom, and for how long should sit with the person whose money it is. Viewing-key attestations make that choice granular instead of binary.
No backend, no logs
Every claim about not retaining user data is worth exactly as much as the infrastructure behind it. We run no prover fleet and no API account model, so there is nothing to subpoena and nothing to leak.
Boring where it counts
Immutable contracts, small surface area, conservative thresholds. The interesting engineering belongs in the circuits, not in the code holding other people’s money.
Four disciplines, one protocol.
Z-Relay Labs is deliberately small. We publish work rather than headshots — judge the ring, the circuits and the audit reports.
FROST threshold signing, the Halo 2 → Groth16 compression circuit, and the trusted setup ceremony.
The Rust relayer, node orchestration against public endpoints, and the settlement contracts.
The TypeScript SDK, the in-browser prover, and the documentation you are reading.
Mapping selective disclosure onto what auditors and counterparties actually ask for.
Our socials.
One account, one place to reach us. Everything else is impersonation.
Z-Relay is written with a hyphen, capital Z and capital R. The ticker is $ZRL, always with the dollar sign. The mark is a brushed Z set in a forest tile — use it on its own, never beside the ticker.
Building something that needs privacy?
Lending against shielded collateral, confidential payroll, private RWA settlement — if it needs value to move without an audience, we want to hear about it.
